About Stephen Hawkins

Landscape Artist Stephen Hawkins

Stephen was born in Surrey in 1964.  He moved with his family to Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex around 30 years ago. Based at the foot of the South Downs the views in and around Brighton, Haywards Heath, Crawley, Gatwick, Chichester and London provided inspiration for his work. He specialises in Landscapes with people and farm animals, painted in oils. These capture the subtle changes of light and shade, throughout the seasons.  The inclusion of sheep, cattle, horses and figures in many of his landscapes help to truthfully convey the peaceful atmosphere of modern day rural life.

In 2014 he entered his first competition with the Society of All Artists and received a highly commended for his work.  Encouraged by this success, he entered Capturing the Scene in the 2015 competition and won the overall  Artist of the Year title.  He has entered a few more competitions since then and results can be seen below.

In 2020 he was honoured to have his work accepted by the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) to be hung in their annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.

Stephen's work is now highly collectable and sells regularly from galleries across the UK and USA.
