Stephen was born in Surrey in 1964. He lived with his family in Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex for around 30 years. Based at the foot of the South Downs the views in and around Brighton, Haywards Heath, Crawley, Gatwick, Chichester and London provided inspiration for his work.
He specialises in Landscapes with people and farm animals, painted in oils. These capture the subtle changes of light and shade, throughout the seasons. The inclusion of sheep, cattle, horses and figures in many of his landscapes help to truthfully convey the peaceful atmosphere of modern day rural life. Boats and buildings now feature more in his work.
He recently moved to North Devon to start a new chapter.
In 2014 he entered his first competition with the Society of All Artists and received a highly commended for his work. Encouraged by this success, he entered Capturing the Scene in the 2015 competition and won the overall Artist of the Year title.
Since 2020 he has been honoured to have his work accepted by the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) to be hung in their annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.
Some of the results of his other competition entries can be seen below.
Stephen's work is now highly collectable and sells regularly from galleries across the UK and USA.
